Know what you should be looking for.
“It is our aim that every business has access to a job profiling tool that accurately pinpoints the competencies required for job success.”
The Job Profile is a core component of the Ability Map system. Using the Job Profile, a list of soft skills are generated to help businesses identify the true competencies required for high performance in a role.
A groundbreaking tool for recruitment, the Job Profile takes out the subjectivity and bias involved in the Job Analysis process. It gives you a clear list of what you should actually be looking for in candidates, not what you think you should be looking for!
Not only for recruitment, the tool can also be used to assess the different roles within your organisation, and in combination with the Ability Imprint and Matching Engine, ensure you have the right people in the right roles.
Generating a Job Profile with Ability Map
There are three different ways to generate a job profile in the Ability Map system.
High Performance Job Profile
The High Performance Job Profile is the first and most accurate because it leverages the individuals that you identify as already succeeding in the role (high performers). These high performers undergo an Ability Imprint where their strongest competencies are compared and normed, generating a set of competencies to use as the basis for comparison.
Collaborative Job Profile
If there isn’t a sufficient pool of high performers to produce a quality job profile, then a group of ‘experts’ can collaborate to create a Collaborative Job Profile. A set of performance criteria are reviewed and prioritised by designated experts in any location, providing the hiring authority the ability to select a final set of competencies.
Expert Job Profile
Similar to the Collaborative Job Profile, a single expert can review the competency set to select the critical and essential competencies they believe are required for the job, what we term an Expert Job Profile. This is an effective path to overcome the challenges facing hiring managers when subjectivity and gut is the only tool available to estimate what drives performance in a role.
Job Profiling in Action
The Ability Map Job Profiling process has been used by a large number of companies and individuals across major industries including: Medical & Pharmaceutical, Nursing, Financial Services, Sports & Leisure, Accounting, Recruitment, IT Services & Software, Manufacturing, Advertising, Transport, Higher Education, Construction, Mining, Courier Services and Coaching.
